Nikki L. Austin - Shipp is a graduate of The Florida State University located in Tallahassee, FL where she received her B.S. Degree in Finance. She also obtained a M.B.A. in Global Management from the University of Phoenix in Glendale, AZ.

 

After gaining employment with Bell South Advertising & Publishing (Atlanta, GA; Jacksonville, FL and Charlotte, NC), she began her quest for positions in sales, advertising, and marketing. Climbing her way up the ladder in Mass Communications & Advertising, Nikki worked for Infinity Broadcasting Radio Group, (Charlotte, NC) WB55 – TV (Charlotte, NC), 2 ABC Affiliates owned by Cox Broadcasting (WSOC –TV in Charlotte, NC and WSB-TV in Atlanta, GA), and The Dallas Morning News/ A.H. Belo Corp (Dallas, TX), where she has held a myriad of positions from Inventory Accountant to Director of Sales, Marketing and Operations.  In 2009, Nikki transitioned to Chick-fil-A Inc. (Dallas, TX) where she served as Director of Sales, Marketing and Operations focusing on a premier location near the world-renowned Cowboy Stadium.

 

 

In her tenure, Nikki Austin-Shipp, was appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer of South Florida Institute on Aging – SoFIA (formerly as Impact Broward).  In the 55-year history of the organization she serves as the first female and first African American at the helm. With over five hundred regular stipend volunteers and staff. Austin-Shipp secured three times the amount of sponsorships in her first year as in preceding years.  Corporate sponsors such as: KPMG, Mastercard and Truist Bank are a few notables.  Forged a relationship with Microsoft for Seniors with Technology. Austin-Shipp also serves as a Board Member for Holy Cross Health, a  Member of Trinity Health, elected as the Social Chair of Leadership Broward Class XL (40) and 2021 TEDX Speaker.

While she has a wealth of campaign experience, she has served in the United States Federal Government as the Community Relations Director for Congresswoman Frederica Smith Wilson; Florida District 24, a position that includes government and community. As a United States Congressional Staff Member, she has built solid relationships on a local, regional, and national level as the community is everywhere!

Having successfully transitioned from advertising, sales & marketing to operations in 2011, Mrs. Austin- Shipp served as a top performing District Manager for Taco Bell Corporation (owned by parent company Yum! based in Dallas, TX). She oversaw $20 Million in assets and revenues while overseeing 350 employees with 9 direct reports.   Her business portfolio consists of general management, operations, training/development, recruitment of talent, finance, assets and one system franchise initiatives and projects. She was also the only African American Woman selected for “Taco Bell Next Generation of Executive Leaders” in 2014.

 

 

Nikki L. Austin - Shipp served as the Executive Director for the New Visions Community Development Corporation, Inc being promoted from the position of Chief Operating Officer of Mount Bethel Ministries in 2016, affectionately known as “The Mount” which is comprised of multiple worship locations, a Christian Academy (Pre-K – 8th Grade), Human Services and New Visions Community Development Corporation, Inc. Also, she was appointed by the Mayor of the City of Ft. Lauderdale to the Economic and Development Committee. She graduated with the Jim Moran Executive Leadership Institute Class in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and appointed to serve on the Northwest Progresso Flagler Heights (C.R.A.) Board for the City of Ft. Lauderdale.

She is an effective and persuasive communicator with expertise in preparing and delivering formal visual and oral presentations. She has experience in developing trusting relationships through integrity, leadership, developing people, and building high performing teams through excellence, professional character and industry expertise within the community.

 

Nikki has been described as fearless; problem solver/solutions-based expert and a change agent. She lives by the mantra “Failure is NEVER an Option.”

After having resided in 7 different cities Mrs. Austin - Shipp relocated from Dallas, Texas to South Florida in 2014. She is a native South Floridian and is happily married to her super amazing husband, Mr. Rodney D. Shipp where they reside in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and one phenomenal son Sterling D. Shipp who attends the University of Florida.

Her hobbies and talents include traveling, teaching, football spectator, reading, fashion, dancing, politics, and public speaking. She has held numerous chapter and regional positions and appointments in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (Where she is a Silver Star Lifetime Member) and recently appointed to the National Mentoring Committee The Links, Inc. by National President Kimberly Jeffries Leonard. She also serves as Board Member for the ATEF American Tennis & Education Foundation Board. Multiple global philanthropic efforts and issues remain top of mind as Mrs. Austin-Shipp continues to share her passion giving back.
